Lapchi Spiritual Trek – A Sacred Journey in the Himalayas!!
21 Mar 2026 Bodhi Adventures
Lapchi Snow Mountain lies in the eastern Himalayas of Nepal at an elevation of approximately 4,850 meters. It is one of the 24 sacred pilgrimage sites associated with Chakrasamvara, a principal deity of the Anuttarayoga Tantra, the highest level of tantric practice in Tibetan Buddhism.
In Buddhist sacred geography, Lapchi represents the Speech Mandala of Chakrasamvara, while Mount Kailash symbolizes the Body Mandala and Tsari the Mind Mandala. Together, these three places form a powerful spiritual triad revered by practitioners and pilgrims for centuries.
Lapchi has been blessed by many great masters. It is believed that Guru Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche) meditated here, leaving profound spiritual blessings in the landscape. Other realized masters from India, including the great Mahasiddha Saraha, are also associated with this sacred mountain.
According to the biography of Yeshe Tsogyal, there are 25 sacred snow mountains blessed by Padmasambhava, and Lapchi is one of them. In Sanskrit it is sometimes referred to as Godavari, while in Tibetan it is known as Nyanyon, meaning “Left Ear.” The name comes from a naturally formed rock shape resembling a left ear, believed to be a self-arising sacred symbol in the region.
During the 8th century, Yuthok Yonten Gonpo, the royal physician of King Trisong Detsen and one of the founders of Tibetan medicine, meditated in Lapchi. The cave where he practiced is still known today as Yuthok Phug, a revered meditation site for pilgrims.
Later, in the 11th century, the great Tibetan yogi Milarepa practiced and meditated in many caves around Lapchi. His presence further established Lapchi as one of the most important meditation and pilgrimage destinations in the Himalayan Buddhist world.
Today, Lapchi remains a hidden sacred valley, attracting pilgrims, yogis, and spiritual seekers who come to experience its profound silence, powerful natural beauty, and centuries-old spiritual heritage.
