Hiking from Godawari to Nallu Lele via Phulchowki hill in the Lalitpur district of the Kathmandu Valley can be an exciting adventure for nature enthusiasts and outdoor enthusiasts.
You'll be picked up in your Hotel early morning by private vehicle to Godawari, located about 20 kilometers away from Thamel to south of Lalitpur. It takes about 1 hour drive from busy Kathmandu to Godawari. Godavari is home to the Godawari Botanical Garden, which is the starting point of the hike to Phulchowki. The hiking trail (NOT ROAD) is approximately 7 kilometers long to Phulchowki Hill and takes about 3-4 hours, depending on your pace.
The trail to Phulchowki is a moderately difficult hike, with steep inclines and uneven terrain. You'll pass through lush forests along the way. You may also encounter wildlife such as Monkeys, Barking Deers and various bird specie.
Once you reach the top of Phulchowki, you'll be rewarded with panoramic views of the Kathmandu Valley and the surrounding hills and amazing Himalayan Mounain Vista. At an altitude of 2,782 meters, Phulchowki is the highest hill in the Kathmandu Valley and is also a popular destination for birdwatching.
After taking in the views from the top of Phulchowki, you can continue your hike towards Nallu, which is about 8 kilometers away. The trail from Phulchowki to Nallu is a gradual descent, passing through forests.
Nallu is a small village located at the base of the Phulchowki hill. It's a peaceful place with traditional houses and friendly locals. You can take a break here, enjoy some local snacks, and interact with the locals.
From Nallu, you can continue your hike to Lele, which is about 5 kilometers away. The trail from Nallu to Lele is a mostly flat walk along a dirt road, passing through terraced fields and small settlements.
After visiting the Saraswati Temple in Lele Bus Park, you'll be pick up and drive back to Kathmandu.
Overall, the hike from Godawari to Phulchowki, Nallu, and Lele is a great way to explore the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the Lalitpur district of the Kathmandu Valley. The hike is suitable for hikers of all levels, but it's important to carry enough water and snacks, wear comfortable shoes, and dress appropriately for the weather.
